Coronavirus Update
Our Coronavirus update – learning to drive contains some information for our clients currently taking driving lessons. Here we have some news on how the virus will affect learning to drive over the next few months.
Government Guidelines
With the government stating the contamination risk as high, Pass Me Faster has decided to close. Government guidelines are to keep at least a 2-meter distance from person to person. Given that this is impossible on a driving lesson we feel the only safe option is to postpone things to help stop the spread of Covid 19.
We’re sorry for the inconvenience but hope you understand our decision and hope to see you soon after we beat the virus!
There are however exemptions for key workers. We will try to support anybody that falls into the critical worker’s category. They could be-
- Health and social care workers
- Food chain workers
- Education and child care
- Utility workers
- Public safety and national security
- Transport
- The Local and national government
Driving Theory And Practical Test Cancellations
As of the 17th March 2020, the official DVSA website states all theory tests have been suspended for one month. Due to the proximity of the candidate and examiner on the practical test, the driving test has been suspended for up to 3 months.
Government Advice As Of 23rd March 2020
We’re guessing you probably already know these but we’ll list them below. The local and national government have now announced that everyone should stay at home and only go out –
- For one form of isolated exercise per day
- Shopping for necessities
- To travel to essential work (driving lessons would not be essential work)
- For medical needs or to help a vulnerable person
Boris Johnson has now had to drastically put the country under Police Enforced Lockdown.
How Long Before I Can Start My Lessons Again
Taking into account government advice regarding social distancing we think an initial suspension of at least 3 to 4 weeks for all driving lessons. The situation will however, be reviewed as the crisis unfolds with our regular coronavirus update – learning to drive.
