Driving Lessons Re-Start After Lockdown
As of the 5th of November 2020, we entered our second lockdown which put an emergency stop to all driving lessons and Driving tests in England. It’s not all doom and gloom as the giant stall to your driving journey is almost over and driving lessons re-start after lockdown
Boris confirmed to the nation on Monday the 22nd of November that we will be exiting the lockdown as planned on the 3rd of December. We’re exiting back into the tier system with a possible 4th tier being added in areas with higher rates of infection. Driving lessons and tests can recommence in tiers 1,2 and 3 so that includes us here at Pass Me Faster.

What Happens If My Driving Test Was Cancelled
If your test was canceled due to the second lockdown you should receive an email from the DVSA saying something along the lines of –
“You do not need to do anything right now.”
“We’ll automatically rebook your test, free of charge, as soon as we can. We’ll send you another email with the new date and time as soon as it’s been rebooked. It might take up to a week before we can confirm your new test date; we apologise for any inconvenience.”
“If the new time and date you are given is not suitable, you can change your test time and date.”
If you want to change your test date follow this link.
Driving Tests After Second Lockdown
When things do get up and going, driving tests, we imagine, will continue to follow with the same COVID – 19 precautions as before the second lockdown hit us. We’ve heard some waiting rooms are getting re-opened but we’re not sure whether this means Middlesbrough Driving Test Centre. If not, you will wait in the car park until the examiner comes out to greet you. Other precautions will include –
- Face masks to be worn by test candidate and examiner (unless exempt for medical reasons)
- The car must be very clean inside. The examiner will also spend 5 minutes de sanitizing the area
- Windows need to be wound fully down throughout the test
- The Driving Instructor must wait at the test centre
- If you fail your driving test you will come straight back to the test centre
We imagine these safety precautions will stay in place until vaccines have hit full swing and the virus has all but gone. We’ll keep you informed of any changes as soon as we know.
